Talking Dog
Director of Media
Talking Dog is the University of Georgia’s premier, full-service, student-run agency. Selected as one of eight to serve on the Board of Directors as the Director of Media, I managed and coached twelve digital specialists on varying account teams for clients including American Airlines, Porsche, Coca Cola, and others.
“Walking the Dog Talk”
My goal in this role was to ensure that the way we marketed ourselves was as great as the work we were doing for our clients. In order to ensure that our digital agency presence was creative, clear, and engaging across all platforms, I worked closely with our creative directors to completely redesign Talking Dog’s website and social media.
Social Media Facelift
My goal as the Director of Media for Talking Dog was to create an online presence that better displayed the agency’s creativity and ambition. Our account teams are constantly seeking creative ways to advertise and market their clients via social media, so why not do the same for the agency?
Brand Guide + Google Analytics
I worked closely with the creative directors to create a clear brand guide for Talking Dog so our online presence would be cohesive across all platforms.
In order to measure the growth and success of our online platforms, I used Hootsuite and Google Analytics. This allowed us to constantly improve our social media presence, see what kind of users we were attracting, and effectively manage our posts. By the end of the year, we increased our following on Instagram by 44%.
Highlight Reels
Instagram highlights are a great way to organize and display content. I sought to utilize this feature and created a series of highlights to better showcase the agency’s talent as well as keep the staff informed.
“Brand’s Best Friend” showcased work our account teams were creating for our 2020-2021 clients to showcase the content we were producing and let our followers know who we were working with.
My time at Talking Dog was completely virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so all meetings were held over Zoom. The “Best of Breed” highlight encouraged members and increased morale by featuring an outstanding Talking Dog member the agency had nominated for their hard work each week. This not only increased engagement due to members reposting to their stories, but it gave us a chance to brag on our awesome pups!
I also created an “Advice” highlight with tidbits of advice from the Board of Directors on how to keep spirits up during quarantine, “Dog Blog” to announce new blog posts, and an “Intern Takeover”.
Utilizing Video
Video is an extremely powerful tool that I felt we weren’t taking advantage of. I worked closely with our Production Director to create videos featuring the work we were doing for our clients, how to take a socially distanced headshot, what college agency life is like, etc.
Website Redesign
Following the brand guide we created, I worked alongside the Creative Directors to design a new website layout in Adobe XD. Using my knowledge of UX/UI design, I made the reorganized the structure to better display the agency’s mission and added features such as a client reel and agency promotional video .
